About Lightstyle and Copyright Notice
Established in 2003, Lightstyle has invested significant time and resources into creating and curating a collection of high-quality images and videos. This includes commissioning professional photography to build and enhance our brand and company identity.
If Lightstyle is informed that a website, individual, or third party has used our copyrighted material without prior authorization, the following terms will apply:
- Invoicing for Unauthorized Use: An invoice will be issued to cover the unauthorized use of our copyrighted material.
Understanding Photographic Copyright
Photographic copyright protects the creator or owner of a photograph by granting exclusive legal rights. These rights include reproduction, distribution, display, and the creation of derivative works. In the United Kingdom and many other countries, copyright protection is automatic upon the creation of an original photograph, as long as it is fixed in a tangible medium (e.g., saved to a storage device).
This means that no one may use a copyrighted photograph without the copyright owner’s permission. Such permission is often granted in the form of a license, which may include fees for usage.
Terms of Use for Lightstyle Photographs and Videos
Lightstyle grants licenses to individuals, companies, and other parties to use our photographs and videos under the following conditions:
- Permitted Uses:
- Commercial purposes
- Editorial purposes
- Personal use
- Websites and digital platforms
- Duration of Use:
- The license is valid for 12 months from the date of the issued invoice.
- Territory of Use:
- Licenses are valid worldwide.
- Fees:
- Photographs: £1,500.00 + VAT per image
- Videos: £2,000.00 + VAT per video
License Terms
- Lightstyle grants a non-exclusive license to use the photograph or video for a single use during the 12-month licensing period.
- Single Use Defined: Usage of the photograph or video in one context (e.g., one webpage or advertisement). Additional uses (e.g., multiple webpages or repeated advertisements) will incur proportional fees (pro-rata).
- After the 12-month period, the licensee must cease all use of the material unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Acknowledgment of Copyright
The licensee acknowledges that:
- The material is protected by copyright.
- Unauthorized use, reproduction, distribution, or modification constitutes copyright infringement.
Lightstyle reserves the right to take legal action against unauthorized use, including seeking injunctive relief, monetary damages, and recovery of legal fees.
Payment Terms
- The licensee agrees to pay the stated fees within 14 days of the invoice date.
- Payment must be made in GBP to the designated payment address provided by Lightstyle.
Notice for Unauthorized Use
If we become aware that a website or party has used our copyrighted material without authorization, it will be assumed that the terms outlined above are fully agreed upon. In such cases, an invoice will be issued accordingly.
Lightstyle takes copyright protection seriously and will pursue any infringement vigorously to ensure our intellectual property rights are upheld.
